Welcome to the 2012 Stanford Taekwondo Competition Poomsae Seminar!
With further development of the sport of competition poomsae within our community in mind, the Stanford University Taekwondo Program is proud to present its first Stanford Taekwondo Competition Poomsae Seminar on Sunday, February 19th. Its primary objective is to help athletes, coaches, and judges better understand the theory of scoring taekwondo poomsae according to WTF/USAT, as well as the latest training methods adopted by high-level competitors.
Including both lecture and hands-on training components, this seminar will be led by two experienced Stanford instructors:
- Master Vincent Lo (certified WTF Poomsae International Referee, with years of experience judging at USAT and NCTA National Team Trials)
- Team-M head Coach Huy Nguyen (current US National Poomsae Team Member, boasting the development of 11 other National Poomsae Team Members).
Both renowned Stanford instructors sincerely hope to share their vast judging, competing, and coaching experiences to help athletes, coaches, and judges perfect their knowledge of the current WTF/USAT poomsae standards and better prepare for upcoming poomsae competitions:
Detailed breakdown of scoring in competition poomsae (Technical and Presentation).
Explanation of common deductions and effective scoring factors.
Training methods to help achieve power, higher kicks, balance, flow, and more.
1-on-1 training with current US National Poomsae Team Members and official WTF Poomsae IR.
Mock poomsae competition with instant feedback. Optional free session after official clinic to work on your favorite poomsae with instructors.
Special opening performance by Team-M Taekwondo with special emphasis on poomsae incorporation. Experienced assistant instructors (6 current National Poomsae Team Members).
Age/belt requirements (age: 8+, all belts welcome).
Registration fee: $50.
Optional Lunch: $5 (includes: sandwich, chips, and drinks).
Team-M will be making a guest appearance at the International Taekwondo Festival 2009, an international tournament with over 5000 attendees. The event will be held in Southern California on June 6 and 7, 2009. Team-M is honored to have been invited to perform at the event’s opening ceremony and is looking forward to putting on a spectacular show. 2009 Spring Parade
For the past five years Team-M has participated in the Annual TET parade in downtown San Jose. February 8, 2009, was no different than past years. Participating in the annual TET parade is one way Team-M stays connected with the bigger communities. It is also an opportunity for them to spread their love of Taekwondo through demonstrations while having fun entertaining the public.

On January 17, 2009, City of San Jose, CA hosted '2009 Tet Festival' at the San Jose Convention Center, South Hall. San Jose has a strong Vietnamese community presence. Dear Masters, Coaches, and Athletes,
Team-M would like to invite prospective Taekwondo practitioners in the Southern California area to participate in the upcoming Team-M Taekwondo Team Trials. Our demo team currently consists of athletes and coaches from 8 different schools throughout California and is looking to continue expanding our So-Cal division. We hope to grow with new team members contributing to the ongoing effort of promoting Taekwondo globally through demonstrations.
