Congratulations to Team-M's Coach Long, Alvin, Lance, and Hazel for making the US National Collegiate Poomsae Team! They will join other athletes and represent USA at the World University Taekwondo Championships in Korea on May 25th-30th. In addition, Coach Huy Nguyen has been appointed as USA’s head poomsae coach for the event. All team members (sparring & poomsae) and coaching staffs will work together during a 2 days training camp at Stanford University from May 20th-21st and then head out to Korea. Coach Vincent Lo and Coach Huy Nguyen hope to share their judging, competing, and coaching experiences to help athletes and coaches gain knowledge of the most current WTF Poomsae standards and better prepare for upcoming poomsae competitions.

The seminar will be hosted on Saturday April 28, 2012 at Burnham Pavilion, Stanford University and is open to all belts above the age of 8. The goals of the seminar are to provide:

-Detailed breakdown of poomsae scoring (Technical and Presentation)

-Explanation of common deductions and effective scoring factors.

-Training methods to help achieve power, higher kicks, balance, and more.

-Training with current US National Poomsae Team mebmers and official Poomsae IR.

-Mock poomsae competition with instant feedback.

-Special opening performance by Team-M Taekwondo with strong emphasis on poomsae incorporation.

-Guidance by experienced assistant instructors (National Poomsae Team members).

Team-M had a great time at US Open! USA Taekwondo did a great job at running the competition smoothly considering there were 700+ poomsae competitors from around the world. Team-M members and coaches finished the competition with the following results:

Congrats to Team-M Taekwondo for winning "Best Group" award at the UVSA TET FESTIVAL 2012 "Spring of Peace" Talent Competition. Kudos to all the Nor-Cal, So-Cal, and provisional members for doing an outstanding job promoting Taekwondo on stage. The event was definitely by far the largest festival Tet Festival outside of Viet Nam! Congrats to the all the event staffs.

Welcome to the 2012 Stanford Taekwondo Competition Poomsae Seminar!

With further development of the sport of competition poomsae within our community in mind, the Stanford University Taekwondo Program is proud to present its first Stanford Taekwondo Competition Poomsae Seminar on Sunday, February 19th. Its primary objective is to help athletes, coaches, and judges better understand the theory of scoring taekwondo poomsae according to WTF/USAT, as well as the latest training methods adopted by high-level competitors.

Including both lecture and hands-on training components, this seminar will be led by two experienced Stanford instructors:

- Master Vincent Lo (certified WTF Poomsae International Referee, with years of experience judging at USAT and NCTA National Team Trials)

- Team-M head Coach Huy Nguyen (current US National Poomsae Team Member, boasting the development of 11 other National Poomsae Team Members).

Both renowned Stanford instructors sincerely hope to share their vast judging, competing, and coaching experiences to help athletes, coaches, and judges perfect their knowledge of the current WTF/USAT poomsae standards and better prepare for upcoming poomsae competitions:

Team-M Southern California Team Trials

Being able to mingle and laugh even though we spoke different languages truly meant that we are one through Taekwondo!

T-minus 22 days!

Hi Everyone,

This is Rocky from Team-M Taekwondo, and I'll be representing USA this year for the
World University Games 2011 in Shenzhen, China. I am currently on the 1st male poomsae team
along with Long Nguyen and Alvin Jong. On behalf of my 8 teammates who are all on the USA
National team, I would like to thank all of our fans and supporters for helping us reach our goal.
Your generous donation and support gave us that extra boost we needed to excel in our training
for the competition.

Our competition is only a few weeks away and during this time I feel like our preparation for
it has gone to a new level. With previous experiences in the past, new knowledge in the presents and the determination I am able to train with an eased mindset.

6 Team-M Members Made USA National Team!
The 2011 USA National Poomsae Team Trials in Buffalo, NY concluded on Sunday, May 22nd resulting in Team-M's most remarkable national competition accomplishment! Six Team-M members placed 1st to earn their spots on the 2011 USA National Poomsae Team and will be competing for Team USA at the upcoming World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships on July 29-31 in Vladivostok, Russia.

Team Director Huy Nguyen remarked, "It feels beyond great to have our team do this well at this year's team trials. We definitely did not get where we are alone so we have many teammates, Taekwondo friends, and supporters to thank for. With The World Championships being only two months away, everyone will enjoy their couple days off and will be back on the mats daily until the competition. We are humbly honored for the opportunity to represent USA at the upcoming championships and will definitely set our best effort forward to fulfill our responsibilities as national team members."

At the team trials, Team Director Huy Nguyen along with his brothers (Coach Anh and Coach Long) took the championships title in the 1st Male Team division, while Lance Supnet and Hazel Cruz won the 1st Pairs division and Alex Twu finished up by dominating the 1st Senior Male division. All six of these team members earned their National titles while other great results were obtained by the rest of the team. By the end of the team trials, all Team-M competing members medaled and brought back home 6 golds, 3 silvers, and 3 bronzes.

Helping Japan through Taekwondo

Team-M Taekwondo will be collaborating with Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association to put on a "Hope for Japan" community benefit on April 23rd, 2011 at the Orchard Bruin Event Center in San Jose, California. The event will feature a unique collaboration of taekwondo and lion dance performances by both organizations in hope of raising funds and awareness to support victims in Japan. In partnership with the American Red Cross, all proceeds from the event will be sent to aid the Japan Relief efforts.

During an interview with Mookas USA, Head Coach Huy Nguyen stated "With the continuous need for support towards a very long road to recovery, I hope to see many supporters in our Taekwondo community at our charity performance. All performers have been working really hard to put together this unique collaborative performance, and we hope you can join us to see the show."

Team-M Members Making 2011 Collegiate National Team

Five Team-M Taekwondo members competed at the 2011 National Collegiate Team Trials, which was held at the University of California Davis. The team finished with 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze. In addition, team captain Long Nguyen along with Alvin Jong and Rocky Cao made the 2011 US Nationals Collegiate Male Poomsae Team and will be competing with Team USA at the 26th World University Games in Shenzhen, China this August.

To kick off the Lunar New Year for 2011, Team-M Taekwondo performed at the Annual Tet Festival Taekwondo Championships hosted by Hung Vuong Insititute. Similar to other years, this year's tournament was held within the Tet Festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This event has always been unique as it features not only great Taekwondo competitions, but it also promotes cultural festivities throughout the Tet festival. This year event was successfully executed with ~300 competitors throughout Northern California. As Team-M entered the floor to prepare for their performance, the crowd increased to nearly 1,000 spectators consisting of competitors, parents, and the festival attendees. Coach Huy Nguyen remarked "It is always a great pleasure for our team to perform at this tournament since it allows us to continue sharing our Taekwondo experience with current practitioners, and it is also a great opportunity for our sport to be exposed to those who may have never experienced Taekwondo. As always, I hope our performances help inspire current practitioners while encouraging community members to explore the great martial art and sport of Taekwondo."

Team-M's highlights @ 2010 World Poomsae Championship

After 6 days of training and competing at the 2010 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Alexander Twu from Team-M advanced to the Semi-Finals, where he finished 11th overall out of 43 competitors for Individual and also placing 18th overall out of 36 teams for Pairs. 23 years old Twu represented Team USA in the 1st Male Individual Division (19-30 years old) as well as the 1st Pairs Division (14-35 years old) with his teammate, 24 years old Ophelia Ngai from Chin Woo Quan Taekwondo Academy.

Returning home from the Championships, Twu expressed, "It was an honor to be able to represent my country in one of my passions. To be able to travel and compete among the world's top taekwondo athletes was an unforgettable experience. Thank you everyone for all your support."

Team-M Youngest Member Winning 2nd Place in 2010 Taekwondo Essay Contest

The Korean Cultural Center - Embassy of Republic of Korea hosted the 2010 Nationwide Taekwondo Essay Contest and received over 300 entries from all over America. Arianna Le, Team-M youngest member at the age of 9, has won 2nd place in the contest. Arianna and her essay will be featured in a published book along with other winning essays from around the nation. Also, Arianna and her family are invited to the Award Ceremony on December 10th in Washington DC. After being notified of the winning news, Arianna remarked "I recently obtained my black belt in October so I feel humbly fortunate to have another accomplishment added to my Taekwondo career. I promise to continue my restless effort to train and represent this sport to its fullest." Arianna's Head Coach Huy Nguyen commented "Although Anna is our youngest member, everyone (including myself) on the team can still learn from her unique passion. From reading her essay, I am proud to see Arianna's view on Taekwondo as well as the experiences she has gone through so far from the art."

Greetings Performance for TPF President and Korea Interns

On September 15th, 2010, Team-M put on a performance to help welcome the Taekwondo Teaching Internship Program along with a special visit from the president of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation (TPF) to America. 20 top graduated Taekwondo major students from Korea were selected to come to America this Fall for a 3 months internship program. The program is designed to provide teaching opportunities for all interns at different dojangs across the nations and potentially start their full time career in teaching Taekwondo in America in the future. Team-M is glad to be a part of the welcoming for all interns and the TPF President from Korea.

Alexander Twu, one of Team-M members from Southern California, will be among the 2010 U.S. National Poomsae Team as they are ready to depart to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, for the 5th WTF World Poomsae Championships. The three-day event will take place Oct. 8-11, with projected participation of over 500 competitors from 61 countries. Alexander will be competing in both Senior Male and 1st Pair Divisions at the competition. Team-M is proud of Alexander and wish him the best of luck at the competition!

Team-M Members Making 2010 US Nationals Team!

After months of rigorous training and frequent demonstrations, Team-M managed to have 8 members competing at the 2010 U.S. Nationals Championship in Orlando, Florida. Among the team competitors were Coach Huy Nguyen, Anh Nguyen, Long Nguyen, Alvin Jong, Rocky Cao, Albert Jong, Justin Want, & Alex Twu. Everyone who competed medaled in their respective divisions along with 5 members making the 2010 US Nationals Poomsae Team. These members will get the chance to represent USA to compete at the 5th World Poomsae Championships in Uzbekistan as well as the 1st Senior Pan Am Poomsae Championships in Mexico later on this year.

After returning from Nationals, Coach Huy commented “With Poomsae being a growing aspect of modern Taekwondo, Team-M is hoping to bring even more competitors to next year’s Nationals, which will be held in our hometown – San Jose, CA. In the mean time, the team will be training hard to prepare for the upcoming international competitions. Besides the two major international Poomsae championships, Team-M is also looking to compete at the World Hanmadang in Korea in the Fall.”

May 2010 – Most Eventful Month!

In Team-M’s 6 years history, May 2010 has definitely become the busiest month ever with team members taking on 7 events! The month started with Head Coach Huy Nguyen conducting the Demonstration Theory course at a Kukkiwon Seminar and continued on with team competitions along with several demonstration performances. At the end of the month, 5 Team-M Juniors even managed to finish strong with their last event of the month by competing and bringing home 6 Gold Medals, 2 Silvers, and 1 Bronze. On Memorial Day, May 31st, Team-M members were able to finally take a break and enjoy some leisure time with some good old BBQ at a local lake park.

Coming up next - Team-M members will be performing at a Grand Opening for a new Taekwondo Gym (theparkgym.com) on June 27th. Team-M coaches and captains will also be training rigorously to prepare for the 2010 US Poomsae Team Trials in Orlando, Florida in July. 	Team-M wrapped up the 2009 year with its annual Christmas Party at the coaches’ home on December 20th. The team’s annual Christmas party is an event in which the coaches, members, families and friends look forward to each year. This is the day where members can forget about the famous “weight chart” and training gears to relax and have fun. The Christmas spirit was evidenced as Team-M members gathered around Coach Huy playing the keyboard to sing the famous song, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”, but added in with some “taekwondo” version lyrics created by one of the Team-M members. The performance was Team-M’s fun way to wish all their supporters, fans, friends, and families a joyous holiday season!

Team-M Goes to Korea

On October 16, 2009, Team-M’s three coaches (Huy, Anh and Long Nguyen) and five team members (Peter Salas, Alvin Jong, Lance Supnet, Rocky Cao, and Hazel Cruz) will embark to Korea for a 10-day training expedition. It is truly Team-M’s privilege to be invited as guests to train with some of the best in Korea’s Taekwondo teams such as Kukkiwon, Keimyung & Gae Myoung University.

Team-M is humbled by this rare training opportunity and anticipates that they will be transformed by this experience. No doubt, training in Korea will enable them to enhance their Taekwondo skills level as well as get updated on the latest Taekwondo standards and advanced techniques. In looking forward, this training opportunity will not only benefit the coaches and members traveling on this trip, but Team-M as a whole, as naturally, the participating coaches and team members will return home with newly acquired knowledge and skills, which they will be able to translate and incorporate into their on-going trainings with Team-M.

Beside training with the elite teams in Korea, Team-M has been informed that they may be requested to put on a performance showcasing Taekwondo demonstration styles from the U.S. during their travel to different venues in Korea. Certainly this will be another great way for Team-M to join in the concerted efforts of uniting the world through the art of Taekwondo.

The coaches and five team members look forward to their upcoming trip to Korea. They will be sharing their journey with the team, supporters, families and friends via Team-M’s facebook.

Congratulations are in order for Team M members, Alvin Jong, Albert Jong, and Rocky Cao, for taking first place in the team poomsae competition at Nationals, which occurred over the 4th of July weekend in Austin, Texas. Each of the three members earned a spot on the USA National Team and will be traveling to Cairo, Egypt in November 2009 to compete in the WTF World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships. Team M members continued to amaze the Taekwondo communities, supporters, Taekwondo enthusiasts and Team M fans with this well-deserved accomplishment!

Team M Juniors Competed in Stanford Taekwondo Spring Open 2009

With dedicated coaches by their side, along with the support of fellow Team M members, families, friends, and fans to cheer them on, Team M Juniors, currently consisting of five members (ages range from 7-10), competed at the Stanford Taekwondo Spring Open 2009, held at Maples Pavilion on May 23, 2009. Team M Juniors swept the poomsae competition in their respective belt divisions, bringing home four gold medals and one silver. The silver medal was a bitter sweet lost to another fellow Team M Junior member! Four Team M Junior members also put their taekwondo mettle and sparring skills to the test in sparring competitions. Junior members gave their opponents some fierce competitions, resulting in three gold medals and a bronze. Judging from the successes Team M Juniors had at this tournament, both in poomsae and sparring, the Junior members demonstrated that they are capable of representing Team M. No doubt, there will be more great things to come from the Junior members!

One of Team M’s goal is to spread the art and love of Taekwondo and inspire others to further their Taekwondo skills through trainings and demonstrations at various venues. On May 16, 2009, Team M is doing just that by partnering with Stanford’s Taekwondo Program to put on a joint demonstration at the KSA Cultural Show to be held on Stanford’s campus. In preparation for this first time joint project, Team M and Stanford Taekwondo Program members have been training together at Stanford’s well equipped Taekwondo training facility. Co-training have allowed members of both teams to learn each other’s expertise, acquire new skills and techniques, and afforded exposure to new artistic and innovative ways of expressing the art of taekwondo. Team -M Upcoming Demo in Southern California Team-M will be making a guest appearance at the International Taekwondo Festival 2009, an international tournament with over 5000 attendees. The event will be held in Southern California on June 6 and 7, 2009. Team-M is honored to have been invited to perform at the event’s opening ceremony and is looking forward to putting on a spectacular show. 2009 Spring Parade For the past five years Team-M has participated in the Annual TET parade in downtown San Jose. February 8, 2009, was no different than past years. Participating in the annual TET parade is one way Team-M stays connected with the bigger communities. Hayward Performance 2008

Team-M ends 2008 on a high note as they perform a stunning Taekwondo exhibition in Hayward. The team showcased their years of demonstration experience as they performed synchronized forms and aerial kicks for the students of Salas TKD Extended Care. In addition, the team also demonstrated paddle drill techniques from their new junior members. To end the exhibition with excitement, an auction of Team-M memorabilia was held at the end in efforts to fundraise for their upcoming trip to Hanmadang in Korea.

Team-M once again puts on a spectacular performance for the community. During this year's Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, which took place at Caesar Chavez Park in San Jose, thousands of spectators came out to enjoy the festivities and was fascinated by the Taekwondo performance from Team-M during the opening ceremony. The audience was on their feet and just could not get enough of the team's high flying, boards breaking, apples shattering, and much more.

	Team-M Brings Back Medals from the 2008 World Hanmadang. Kukkiwon hosted the 2008 World Hanmadang at the Anaheim Convention Center on July 16-20. Congratulations to Team-M for placing in the World Divisions. US Poomsae Team Trials Result

At the US Poomsae Team Trials during the 2008 US Nationals, the brothers - Anh, Huy, and Long Nguyen came in at 2nd place in the Poomsae Team Division. Team director, Anh Nguyen commented, "Although we came in 1 spot short of making the US Poomsae Team, it was still quite a great experience for us at the team trials. Being that this was our first time, it was impressive to see how much everyone has picked up the new WTF Poomsae Standard – This is a great evolution sign for Competition Poomsae in the US. Competing against talented athletes from all over the country was definitely fun and valuable. Sure, it would have been nice to represent Team USA and competed at the World Poomsae Championships in Turkey this December, but we did learn a lot at the team trials, and looking forward to coming back next year!"
