No doubt, training in Korea will enable them to enhance their Taekwondo skills level as well as get updated on the latest Taekwondo standards and advanced techniques. With dedicated coaches by their side, along with the support of fellow Team M members, families, friends, and fans to cheer them on, Team M Juniors, currently consisting of five members (ages range from 7-10), competed at the Stanford Taekwondo Spring Open 2009, held at Maples Pavilion on May 23, 2009. Team M Juniors swept the poomsae competition in their respective belt divisions, bringing home four gold medals and one silver. The silver medal was a bitter sweet lost to another fellow Team M Junior member! Four Team M Junior members also put their taekwondo mettle and sparring skills to the test in sparring competitions. Junior members gave their opponents some fierce competitions, resulting in three gold medals and a bronze. Team director, Anh Nguyen commented, "Although we came in 1 spot short of making the US Poomsae Team, it was still quite a great experience for us at the team trials. Being that this was our first time, it was impressive to see how much everyone has picked up the new WTF Poomsae Standard – This is a great evolution sign for Competition Poomsae in the US. Competing against talented athletes from all over the country was definitely fun and valuable. Being that this was our first time, it was impressive to see how much everyone has picked up the new WTF Poomsae Standard – This is a great evolution sign for Competition Poomsae in the US.
